Bridge keepers of the River Danube
Eight bridges span the River Danube in the Hungarian capital linking Buda and Pest, each with a fascinating tale to tell. Nowadays, each bridge has a totally different character and style. These bridges are a vital part of Budapest transport infrastructure and they are popular tourist attractions at the same time. All bridges of Budapest are carefully checked every day by their own keepers. Janos Fazekas and his family is taking care of the Chain Bridge in the third generation. Just a mile away his uncle has a very similar job. Imre Fazekas is the keeper of the Margit Bridge, the only bridge in Budapest which has a turn and it shapes an epsilon.
